It has always been based on ACC conf results .
We’ve had guys impacted by this (rightfully so) in the past. Even though it negatively impacted their “perceived to be” seeding - it was based on in conference results only. Right thing to do - Keeps integrity.
So are they going to start incorporating OOC results into Conf now. Football and to a lesser extent BBall have OOC games vs. Conf opponents at times - and those results are never considered Conf.
Just not right. I’m more concerned about the big picture and a potential slippery slope this introduces.
Someone brought up the potential this has for increased ducking. Would it have been good for wrestling to hold Mekhi out of the NCState OOC dual? Heck no - everyone wanted to see that match. But - Mekhi would have certainly been #1 seed at ACCT. Lautt then Hidlay. Mekhi would also be #2 in overall rankings with some of the other losses at 174, and Hidlay would have slid considerably with a loss to Lautt. Would that have set-up Mekhi for a better chance at the ultimate goal at NCAAT? Yes.
Would it have been good for wrestling and fairness and integrity of the sport? Heck no.
I’m glad Mekhi wrestled the match and I sure hope he wins his first match at ACCT, isn’t too drained, and beats Hidlay in the semis.
Go Hokies!
